He came to the house, gave us good advice, discussed tax implications, trusts etc: When the wills were ready he again visited for them to be signed. Details of our Power of Attorney were taken, and they are currently being legalised.

Our original wills were drafted by Iain in 2006 when he was working for Parrott & Coales, so when it became necessary to carry out an update it was pleasing to find that he had set up his own specialist consultancy. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 restrictions, we were unable to meet in person and everything had to be carried out on-line. However, with Iain’s relaxed manner and good humour, the exchange of information was very painless and he was able to produce very exact draft wills in less than seven days. During our discussions he was plain speaking and concise, and was always happy to return to a subject in detail whenever any queries arose. As we entered lockdown a slight panic ensued as we realised that if anything happened to us we would leave our children with an impossible mess to sort out, one of those things that has always been on the to do list, especially with a typically modern situation involving step children etc. We initially tried to contact a couple of lawyers locally who had dealt with previous matters for us but they were unable at the time to find their way around certain obstacles related to COVID-19. I’d been meaning to update our wills and organise our powers of attorney for decades but I’d never actually sat down to plan this exercise in ‘I don’t really understand what I’m signing’.
When I finally applied myself to the task I gave up. Months passed and I contacted my friendly IFA who referred me to Iain Wanstall of Wanstall Consulting. Iain immediately contacted me and we arranged a video consultation. He was very patient and extremely thorough. We talked through all possible permutations and combinations of estate planning, the use of trusts, will composing and power of attorney addressing. He was hugely knowledgable and he offered us options with in-depth explanations of the implications of choosing each one. His explanations were logical, structured and repetitive where necessary.
